Kaka Jataka

"In the never ending fear ..." - This story is told by the Master when it dwells in Jetavana, about a wise adviser. These events continued from Bhaddasala-Jataka.
At a time when Brahmadatta reigned in Benares, Bodhisattva is reborn as a crow. One day, the priest king went out of town and into a river. He was a shower there. And after the scent and perfume himself, he put on his clothes and returned to the city. On the road tunnel located at the city gate there are two small birds such as crows and they said to his companion. "I intend to pollute these brahmins head". "Oh, do not do so, the real Brahmin is a great person, and evil deeds which will cause great resentment. If you are angry with him, he can destroy the whole nation", said the other crow. "I have to do it", said the first crow.
"Well, you must watch", and another crow flew away immediately. At a time when it is under the Brahmin bastion, the crow dropped the dirt. In great anger, Brahmins were immediately put the hatred of all crows.
At the same time, a female servant in charge of spreading the rice in the rice barn door when the sun blazing and he sat there to watch, then he fell asleep. Then came a goat hairy rough rice and start eating it until she woke up and away. Soon after the woman fell asleep, two or three times a goat came back and eat rice. So when the woman has been expelled goat for the third time, he thought that the continuous arrival of goats that will eat most of its rice supplies and certain steps must be executed to terrify and repel the beast, for his good and can save him from a big loss. So he took the torch is lit, sit down, and pretended to fall asleep as usual.
And when the goats started eating, the woman suddenly appeared and attacked the shaggy goat's back it with a torch. With instantaneous coarse hairs on the goat was lighted, and to reduce pain, she ran toward the barn grass near the elephant enclosure and rolled on the grass. So the barn was trapped by the fire and flames spread toward the cages. While the cages caught fire, the elephants started to suffer, and many of them burned miserably, so that doctors can not afford to heal animals.
When this incident was reported to the king, he asked the minister whether the idea of drugs that can cure the elephants. "I certainly know, the king" replied the priest, and explained that the medicine is the fat from the crows. Then the king commanded to kill crows and taken fat. And with the imminent murder of crows on a large scale. but there is no fat found in their bodies, so they continue to kill until the crows that have died are in a lot of bumps everywhere. And great fear seized all the crows.
At that time the Bodhisattva dwells in a large monastery, and he was the leader of eighty thousand crows. One of them bring the news to him about the great fear gripping all the crows. And because it felt that no one among his people, who can try out the task, then the Bodhisattva decided to release his people from a great fear. After considering Dasa Paramita (Ten Perfection), and choose Metta (Loving Kindness) as a mentor, he flew with certainty and without interruption to the king's palace, and entered through the open window, then perched on the throne the king.
It was also the servants trying to catch birds, but the king entered the room and forbid to catch it. Seeing him get a chance, as he will remember Metta, Supreme Being developed approaching from underneath the throne the king and said to the king thus: "Sire, a king should remember the proverb which says that the king does not act required to comply with lust and other evil desires in ruling their kingdoms. Before doing any act, which deserves to be done first is to examine and understand the whole problem, and then only does something useful to these problems. If the king does something which is not useful, then they will make a great fear and also the fear of death against thousands of living beings. And in prescribing drugs based on the fat of crows, your pastor has been driven to revenge by way of lying. Indeed the crows do not have fat. "
Because these words the king's heart captivated, and he asked the Bodhisattva to sit on a throne of gold and sprinkled with oil-oil options at the bottom of the wings and serve with golden vessel with flesh-meat and drink his own king. later when the Supreme Being who ate and quiet. The king said, "Master, you say that crows do not have fat. How could they not have the fat?"
"Look what happened", Bodhisattva replied in a voice that meets the palace, and he expressed the Dhamma in this poem:
In constant fear, with all the people who become the enemy of his enemy, their lives ended and therefore the crows does not have the fat.
After the explanation given, the Supreme Being taught to the king, saying, "Sire, the kings should do something to check and find out all the problems first." With a happy heart, the king puts his crown on the foot of Bodhisattvas, but the bodhisattva returns to the king, begged the king to protect all beings from evil. And the king was moved by these words, then gives a lot of freedom flowing to the crows. Every day the king to prepare six bushels of rice that has been cooked and soft foods for the crows. But the Supreme Being has given a similar diet with food king himself.
He ends here lesson, the teacher recognizes rebirth by saying, "Ananda was the king of Benares at that time, and my own is the king of crows"
