HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — Chinese search engine Baidu Inc. has reached an agreement with Microsoft Corp. to supply some results for its English-language searches through the U.S. software major’s Bing search engine, per reports late Monday.
Baidu is seeking to expand overseas and should be trying to bolster the standard of its English-language searches as a part of that move, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is seeking to expand its presence within the mainland Chinese on-line search market, the report said.
Search results that originate from Bing are going to be labeled with identifying branding once they seem on Baidu’s results page, reports said, citing a spokesman for a Shanghai MSN Network Communications Technology Co., a joint venture during which Microsoft encompasses a stake.
The agreement reportedly doesn't involve any revenue sharing.
