Bush-era policies, continued and expanded by Obama, have led to the murder of over 1 million Iraqi children and civilians. It was a US war crime to target their water purification facilities. These victims of our military-industrial complex (MIC) aggression are no threat to us. But we are to them. We are to them.
 
How inhuman we must seem the longer we dehumanize them. They live, feel, die, love, work, take care of their children just as we do. Yet our government, for and by the people, has been taken over by war mongers and passive profiteers.

How many of us protested when Bush invaded in spite of the will of the American public? How many more of us did nothing, or even attached patriotic flags to our cars and homes in support of military aggression?

Now a newer better storyteller sits in the White House making excuses for the powers that be, a man who took his Nobel Peace Prize and started eight new wars with it. And what are we doing? Mourning a minor incident of military-grade killing, what our soldiers do on an average morning abroad, calling it the worst catastrophe ever.

Update, Dec. 14, 2012: On Friday morning, 27 people were killed in a shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. Among the fatalities are 20 children, six adults, and the shooter. Mother Jones is following the story closely with regular updates here.

 

It's perhaps too easy to forget how many times this has happened. The horrific mass murder at a movie theater in Colorado on July 20, another at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on August 5, and another at a manufacturer in Minneapolis on September 27 are the latest in an epidemic of such gun violence over the last three decades. 

Since 1982, there have been at least 62 mass murders* carried out with firearms across the country, with the killings unfolding in 30 states from Massachusetts to Hawaii. MJ mapped them below, including details on the shooters' identities, the types of weapons they used, and the number of victims they injured and killed. More

Wisdom Quarterly (EDITORIAL)

Since these are not likely "crazed lone gunman" incidents as the corporate media has reported for decades, we ask what is really going on. Manchurian Candidates are not so easy to produce and release into society. Just ask Judyth Vary Baker.

So they must serve some useful purposes. They spread fear and obedience/acceptance of police state tactics. We accept the encroachment of Orwellian surveillance and just about anything in the name of "security." 

Such horrific events are also exploited as pretexts for curtailing rights, liberties, and dissenting viewpoints. The founders realized that an armed citizenry was harder to conquer than a disarmed one. But now it isn't the British to worry about so much as their representatives in our own government. 

How easy it will now be to ban ordinary citizens from owning or possessing guns, but federal agents and "police" of all kinds keep arming themselves to the teeth. We assume it is for our protection, but FEMA camps are not for outsiders. We are the intended targets, "we the people," as every Occupy activist soon realized.

Anyone trying to free the country is in the way of those who would subvert our liberties and institute draconian measures to assure compliance. Not only will our policemen uncles but also our soldier brothers and sisters will surely turn their guns on us; it's in their training! 

• (They are almost all white males committing these mass murders, so the old shorthand "Beware of strangers" doesn't work to keep us falsely feeling safe anymore. But we can't call it racial if we're the race being named. Xenophobia says it's other, always "other.")
• Look how everyone now accepts "school lockdowns," a prison term used to break and abuse inmates in the name of security, without question. Accepts? They now demand it in the name of "security."
• Remember the founder who said something like, Those willing to give up liberty for security deserve neither and will lose both? (It was good ol' boy Ben Franklin, whose name in Israel could be translated as "Son of Frankenstein")

It is the point of their training: Practice on foreign enemies then search and destroy the "enemy within" whoever that may be. Who is it? Is it you? Is it me? We can't trust anyone! Run, hide, turn in your neighbor! Crawl and beg for your life. How could the population not stand up to this transparent set up.

Of course, we never believe anything bad about our government. We, however, have no trouble seeing the bad in other governments. So one can look in the mirror by seeing the same thing happening in China. On the same day as the Newtown shooting, a crazed man in China walked into a school (again) to slaughter children.

"Let's blame guns"? If guns were to blame, and they almost are, we should ban guns, ALL guns. But guns aren't going anywhere. There are 300,000,000 (three hundred million) in this country, a gun for everyone but the infants. And these crimes send sales soaring. What about when they are confiscated by those with the guns, the "security" forces? Then will we be safe from their enforcement schemes

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A Russian court ruled on Thursday [Nov. 29, 2012] that video footage of the Pussy Riot punk group protesting against President Vladimir Putin in a church was "extremist" and should be removed from websites. (See it below with lyrics).

The demonstration last February offended many Russian Orthodox Christians. But Putin has been criticized by U.S. and European leaders over what they saw as disproportionate jail sentences imposed on three Pussy Riot members. Their trial was also seen by Putin's critics as part of a clampdown on dissent.

Every drone is a war crime. And they're coming.

The theories swirling around a mysterious, deadly explosion in Indianapolis over the weekend sound like the recipe for a futuristic Tom Clancy thriller or a dystopian video game.

  

“It was just mass chaos,” Dan Able, a Southside Indianapolis resident, told the Indianapolis Star. “You can’t even imagine how bad it was.” Dan wasn’t the only one who witnessed the destruction from the mysterious explosion that officials are still struggling to explain. The horrific event left at least two dead, obliterated two homes, damaged 18 others, rendered another 27 temporarily uninhabitable, and briefly displaced some 200 residents.

  

At first, the explosion looked like... Now the Internet is lighting up with rumors that the nighttime blast was the work of a CIA Predator drone that for unclear reasons had been programmed to take out two Indianapolis-based US military resource and payroll offices. What is the best way to a stable democracy? Set up a police state. For "the price of freedom is eternal vigilance," a slogan beloved by American and Israeli militants of all stripes, particularly underground moles in nuclear mountain vaults and secret subterranean military installations ready to push The Button(s). Marines, grunts, death-from-above squadrons, and the cavalry in league with paramilitary city squad cars, they love this slogan. This is constant vigilantism, and they are paid vigilantes opposing all who question and agitate.

I hate politics. Why? I hate them because I'm supposed to. I'm trained to. The powers that be wish it. What's an engaged Buddhist to do? What better way to keep things just the way they are?

No one makes them any more lovable with "corruption," a fancy way of saying corporate money and bribes. The Koch Brothers and the Republicans bought Wisconsin governor Scott Walker's allegiance then kept him in office in spite of what people wanted. He took collective bargaining from public employees because someone told him to. Yawn. Who cares?

Destroying the unions means building up the 1%. Vee vill do vut vee are toldt, and vee vill like it! That's the worst thing, corruption. But the second worst thing is how disappointing and ineffectual Democrats are. Such weakness and powerlessness-when-in-power can't be real. B.S. Obama can't be that bad of a negotiator.

  

Any party in power is bad, but what "opposition" are we ever given? Does NPR raise a voice to do more than lean left on social matters while taking a hard swing to the right on all things fiscal? The whole country is socially liberal (whether they admit it or not) and fiscally conservative (as we get economically squeezed to the breaking point).

Let's make the bad times holidays so we can have guilt-ridden good times.

FOX News is the right wing, the Red Ties. MSNBC is the "left" wing, the Blue Ties. (Bloods vs. Crips). Because both parties want the same things, they never really work against each other's interests. Whoever wins, the most important thing is that the two-party system stay in place.
   
The mainstream media kills any third party dreams, any enthusiasm, any attempt to vote. We don't regard voting as a thing we need to do. We consider it a burden. So only activist old women of a particular race get excited about what "needs to be done."

Tuesday elections also saw the demise of LA City Attorney (prosecutor) Carmen Trutanich's ambitions. Trutanich, an enemy of the Occupy Movement and LA artists, lost his bid to become District Attorney in a stunning upset. He didn't even win a spot in the run off. Will racial profiling continue as police stop, frisk, and beat? Will Obama continue to act like a member of the Bush Administration? Is anyone enough to care?

Burma's secret Muslim genocide (video)

Rohingya have been persecuted and discriminated against for decades, but few can even pronounce their name let alone know their plight. The UN describes them as one of the most persecuted minorities, yet their suffering increases. So are the world's democracies ignoring them? Ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Burma (Orwellian police state Myanmar) is being carried out by nominally "Buddhist" police state troops. Meanwhile, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi is "criminally silent" about it.
 
A prominent political analyst says that Burma's president's proposal to expel Rohingya Muslims from the country is an "ethnic cleansing."
 
"This is ethnic cleansing... the government and even this Nobel prize winner, the Lady [Aung San Suu Kyi] is so criminally silent about the problems of this minority in Myanmar," Professor Ghulam Taqi Bangash at the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) told Press TV.

  

The remarks come after Burma's President Thein Sein said that Rohingya Muslims must be expelled from the country and sent to refugee camps run by the United Nations.
  
The government refuses to recognize nearly-one-million-strong Rohingya Muslims community, which the UN calls one of the world's most persecuted people.

Burma claims the Rohingya are not native and classify them as illegal migrants although they have lived in the country for generations. Burma's opposition National League for Democracy party (NLD) leader Aung San Suu Kyi was elected to parliament after she was released from house arrest earlier this year.

  

However, many people are disappointed at the way she has been avoiding the issue.
 
Last month at a press conference in Geneva, Suu Kyi said she "didn't know" if Rohingya Muslims were Burmese citizens.

Bangash said Washington is also criminally silent over the issue as the US tries to coax the countries in this region of Southeast Asia to stop them from having better relations with the People's Republic of China.
  
"Southeast Asia is becoming much more inconspicuous on the economic map for the United States of America," he added.
 
"They should rather strengthen the sanctions against Myanmar until this problem should be solved, but they are not doing that," Bangash added.

Burma's current government is run by military figures, which have been accused of rights abuse.

What are R's about? Republicans for the 1%?

Libertarian turned Republican candidate Ron Paul may be on the right of our one-party system (Republocrats), a corporate-ruled party split into two right wings. Obama is in one wing, Paul would be in the other. But instead the Powers That Be have selected B.S. Obama to go again. Hillary Clinton stands a better chance of ascending to the Oval Office than Paul Ryan and Mittens Rmoney, who continues to suffer from severe bouts of Foot-in-Mouth disease, according to political psychic Sean David Morton. "But Hillary's not running," you say? It would not take much to install her in an "emergency" at the height of her popularity.

Meanwhile, accusations of "racism" continue to dog Ron Paul for years of racist rants that appeared in his newsletter, which he claims he did not read. VP candidate Paul Ryan, who according to Romney's introduction will be the next "president of the United States," is getting much more press. Will Ron Paul still crash the Republican convention? One can only hope. Will all the live ammo the police state has purchased to deploy at both Democratic and Republican national conventions be used? One can only hope not.
  
(But even the National Weather Service is buying hollow point bullets to militarize as many federal agencies as possible before "the troubles" begin and America is transformed into an Orwellian experiment). Would Ron Paul have slowed the pace of that transformation? How if Obama is full steam ahead on any and everything the George Bushes and Dick Cheney planned for decades in advance?

But the 2012 Republican National Convention (RNC) and Democratic National Convention (DNC) are taking a hard-lined approach not seen since the DNC of 1968 in Chicago. Police at this year’s conventions, in Tampa, Fla. and Charlotte, N.C. respectively, will have personnel from the military and Department of War on hand, according to a Northern Command Spokesman in an email. The summer of naked bath salts-induced attacks continues apace. The latest abuser of the powerful hallucinogen was a brand-new mother in Altoona, Pennsylvania, who couldn’t wait until she had left the maternity ward to smoke a dose, strip naked, and embark on a violent rampage. The Altoona Mirror reports that on June 17th, two days after giving birth, 31-year-old Carla Murphy (shown above at right) was found by a nurse rolling around on a shower floor naked and confused. When roused, Murphy sprung into frenetic action, taking off down the hall, screaming profanities, and kicking and punching whoever crossed her path.
