Defeating the Enemy Greatest

By Maha Acarya Lian Sheng on August 18, 1996 Quoted by Zhiwei Zhu

Today I will talk about the true meaning of bhavana. Mandarin term "Xing Zhe" means the person who trained spiritual. Sun Go Kong, the main character in the story Journey to the West, also known as Sun Xing Zhe because he is a sadhaka surnamed Sun.

As sadhaka, do you know the true meaning of bhavana? Too bad many Buddhists behavior and his mind is not a good example. In my view, they will not achieve the success of what's what. Discussion on this day is to make sure that you all understand profound meaning of bhavana.

You all know that the 4 major types Tantric ritual was the refusal of the plague (Santika), an increase in welfare (paustika), harmony (wasikarana), and the submission of crime (abhicaruka). Of the 4 types, the most recent is the most important.

Do not get me wrong that by using science abhicaruka (submission), I told you to subjugate others so that whatever you do to be smooth.

"We are the biggest enemies to ourselves", said a philosophy. We must subdue ourselves. In short, bhavana main purpose is to subjugate our ego.

I try to explain in other ways. We have accumulated a lot of bad karma since time infinite. Since full of bad karma, we must subdue all our bad habits. As sadhaka, we must subdue "greedy, sinful, moha" and senses of "sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, and mind ".

The first is called the "three poisons". The second is called "6 robbers" by Sakyamuni Buddha. To 6 senses in our bodies has led to various types of open-mouthed. For example, our eyes see beautiful things, our ears hear the melodious music, our noses smell the fragrance, our tongues taste the delicious food. So our bodies and minds filled with impurities. All kilesa it must be cleaned. We must use a very subtle way down to 6 in this sense. We must learn to enter the Samadhi. Only the wisdom generated by Samadhi can be used to subdue the three poisons and the 6th sense. To log in Samadhi, we have to subdue the 6 senses.

Another thing to note is that we have studied to a teacher who truly understand the Buddha dharma. This sounds easy, but it was not easy.

In the end, we must bersarana to yourself. In other words, we must subdue ourselves and trust in yourself.

In deep meditation, we will find consciousness to 9 of Amala. What is it? That is the nature of Buddha. We will realize that all beings have Buddha nature.

We actually bersarana to the nature of the Buddha himself as we bersarana to the Buddha. So if there are things that must be subdued, it is ourselves. If we have to bersarana, it is the nature of the Buddha himself.

In the most profound consciousness, Buddha nature and consciousness of the universe are interrelated.

So, when Sakyamuni Buddha reached kebudhaan, he states, "All human have kebudhaan nature. "Buddha nature we are hidden in our deepest consciousness.

In the end we do not bersarana to our teachers. We bersarana on the nature of the Buddha himself who is in us. Two things are very important.

Zen appreciate the "direct teaching", with the result that we must always ponder the nature of Buddha in themselves, turn on the lights in our minds and awaken our Buddha nature.

The flow of Tantra has always taught his followers, "You are a Buddha." Why? We're not just talking about the Buddha's it; we are talking about the Buddha nature that exists in the most profound consciousness of ourselves.

So when I bernamaskara to all beings, this means that my Buddha nature actually bernamaskara to them. We must respect the nature of Buddha and ourselves in the most profound awareness of it. We must bow to the three toxins that have accumulated since time infinite. We must subdue the 6 senses. This is the true meaning of bhavana.

That's it for today. Om Mani Padme Hum.
