Definition of the highest blessingsSo I have heard: One time the Buddha dwelt near Savatthi, in the monastery Anathapindika Jeta Forest. On a beautiful night, came the gods with a brilliant light that illuminated the entire Jeta Forest.He went to the Buddha, giving respect, and stood on one side and said to the Buddha in the following verse:1. Many gods and men, for want of prosperity, have reflected on what the act of promising success. Explain whether the act was the highest that guarantee success? 1 (258)
The Buddha:2. Not associating with people who are dumb, but, along with the wise, and saluting those who deserve dihormat. That's the ultimate act that guarantees success. (259)3. Living in an appropriate environment, have done many meritorious actions in the past, and lead yourself in the right direction: it is the highest act that guarantees success. (260)4. Having a good education, skilled all-round, have an appreciation of art, has a well-trained discipline and pleasant speech he said: it is the highest act that guarantees success. (261)5. Endorsing the father and mother, keeping a good son and wife, and have jobs that are peaceful, free of contradiction: it is the highest act that guarantees success. (262)6. Like charity, behave properly, to help relatives and unimpeachable act: it is the highest act that guarantees success.(263)7. Stop doing evil and free from crime, do not drink beverages that are destructive, and diligent in immoral behavior: it is the highest act that guarantees success. (264)8. Having a respectful, humble, contented, always grateful, and listen to the Dhamma at the appropriate time; that the highest act that guarantees success. (265)9. Patience, obedience, hanging out with human model in the life of the Dhamma, and to participate in religious discussions, that's the ultimate act that guarantees success. (266)10. Self-control, understanding the Four Noble Truths and attain Nibbana, the highest act of ensuring that success. (267)11. If the mind is without sorrow, without stain and steady [in nirvana], remains undisturbed despite the difficulties of worldly influenced, 2 that the highest act that guarantees success. (268)12. Those who have acted so as not to be defeated anywhere, and achieve happiness anywhere else - for them, that's the ultimate act that guarantees success. (269) NotesThe best deeds, great happiness or supreme blessing.Especially the highs and lows of life in this world, or the conditions of life: profit or loss, success or failure, praise or reproach, happy or miserable.
