Be Wise: Bhikkhu Indaguno

Be Wise

Namo Tassa Bhagavato Arahato SammāsambuddhassaHi Udakaṁ nayanti nettikā, usukārā namayanti tejanaṁDāruṁ namayanti tacchakā, hontu Damayanti PanditaWater channels drain water maker, handyman arrow straightening arrows, carpenters bend wood; the wise control themselves.

(Dhammapada, VI: 5)In the present life, it is very difficult to find a wise person and the person who can become role models for mankind, because now people tend to seek material wealth rather than spiritual wealth.
According KBBI, wise to have meaning: 1) always using her mind, wise, sharp mind, 2) clever and careful when facing difficulties.While in grammar Pali, a wise man called Pandita. The wise man should at least be able to solve his problems, whether about work, family, and others. As Buddhists, we should condition the policy appears in us.

In Aṭṭhakanipāta, Anguttara Nikaya explained that there are eight conditions that cause the appearance of wisdom, namely:
1. Growing in self will do evil shame (Hiri) and fear of the result of evil deeds (ottappa). Those who Hiri and ottappa able to maintain silanya and treating others with love, love to come to a wise teacher;
2. Often come to a wise teacher to get a detailed explanation so that confusion about the things that confuse become erased;
3. Living with a pull out in two ways: pull themselves outward and inward;
4. Life train yourself and uncontrollably as a rule (pātimokkha), perfect in action and thought, saw the danger at the slightest mistake;
5. Confirmed the lessons he had learned it, that is a good lesson in the early, mid, and late, and solidify the holy life that is fully intact and pure;
6. Living excited by directing himself to leave the bad things and develop things wholesome; steady and strong in its business;
7. Living free from the conversation that is not useful but talk about the Dhamma;
8. Watch live show and the disappearance of the five aggregates (pañcakhandhā), which became the subject of attachment.

In Books Abhidhammatthasaṅgaha explained that there are three ways to develop wisdom, namely:
a. Sutamayapaññā, namely wisdom, developed a way to hear and learn the Dhamma, he remembers what has been learned, and confirmed what he had learned that;
b. Cintāmayapaññā, the policy developed by way of investigation, research, and then absorbed by the correct understanding, and
c. Bhāvanāmayapaññā, namely wisdom, developed a way to do Vipassana Bhavana.
Someone who practice Vipassana Bhavana diligently to gain true understanding that life is made up of mind and body, which is gripped by three universal pattern (Tilakkhana), namely: impermanence (anicca), dissatisfaction (dukkha), and without me (anatta). Those who are wise will have a strong mind in dealing with life issues.The wise man has the characteristics, as follows:
1. Often give advice, guidance, and forbid what is bad and loved by people of good and evil shunned by people. (Dhammapada 77)
2. Happy life with calm mind. Always rejoice in the Doctrine of dibabarkan by Ariyas. (Dhammapada 79)
3. Always control yourself. (Dhammapada 80)
4. Disposing of clinging to all things, do not talk about things related to craving. In the face of happiness or misfortune, not to be happy or disappointed. (Dhammapada 83)
5. Do not do evil for its own sake or others; do not want children, wealth, rank or success in a way that is not true. (Dhammapada 84)
6. If the mind has been perfected in the Factor of Information, without bond, have fun with a mind that is free from impurities, shining, truly has reached nirvana in this life as well.(Dhammapada 89)
In Mahāmaṅgala Sutta, Sutta Nipata - Khuddaka Nikaya explained that the sages have three characteristics, namely: clean thoughts, good words and nice, and immoral behavior. Those who have a clean mind in understanding about life, has a good mind, his mind was always filled with love, to have self-control. Speech wise men also well maintained, never utter harsh words, always spoken with gentle, always give useful advice for listeners. His behavior was always exemplary, capable of running the precepts well.
The wise man who should serve as an example for us all is the Buddha because he is a teacher who has achieved wisdom with his own business. Wisdom He can be known through his teachings. We as heir to the Dhamma should be able to make Him as a figure in our lives. In Catukkanipāta, Anguttara Nikaya explained that through conversations, a person of wisdom will be known. Those who are wise are able to examine, formulate, and raised the issue. If they speak the Dhamma, they will explain their meaning in brief and detailed.
Many of the benefits that we get when a wise man, among others: able to solve problems, both personal problems, family, business, association, and others; understand the meaning of this life, to be calm when facing things that are not fun and not too happy when praised, have thoughts, speech and behavior that clear; able to provide useful advice for others, not doing a disgraceful deed, have a love for all creatures, and able to reach the laws of truth (Cāttāri Saccāni Ariya, Tilakkhana, Kamma, Punabbhava, Paṭiccasamuppāda). So, as heir to the Dhamma, we should practice the teachings of the Buddha in earnest so that students get the benefits and become a wise Buddha.(June 17, 2007)
