Police to research brutal attack on journalists by students

South Jakarta Police say that they're going to launch an investigation into an attack against journalists allegedly by a gaggle of highschool students.

South Jakarta Police Chief Sr. Comr. Imam Sugianto said that students of state highschool SMA half dozen in South Jakarta would be questioned concerning their involvement within the attack. “We can launch an investigation against anybody concerned within the attack on the journalists,” he said.
Earlier on Monday, the National Police Chief Gen. Timur Pradopo said that any highschool students concerned within the attack would be delivered to justice.
Timur told reporters before joining a cupboard meeting that police would collaborate with the college within the investigation.
Students from SMA half dozen highschool allegedly assaulted journalists from numerous media organizations who staged a protest against an earlier attack last week on a TV journalist implicating students at the college in violence.
The journalists who were victims within the incident are Panca Syaukani from Media Indonesia, Aldi Gultom from Rakyat Merdeka, Wahyu from Elshinta Radio, Anton from Metro TV, Banar Fil Ardhi from Kompas pictures and Media Indonesia photographer Yudhistiro Pranoto.
Yudhistiro is currently receiving intensive care at the Pertamina Hospital.
On Friday, some students seized video tape from Trans7 journalist, Oktaviardi, when he recorded a brawl involving students of SMA half dozen and also the nearby SMA seventy.
More journalists came to the college on Monday to stage a protest and raise the college to require responsibility for the incident.
“I was overwhelmed whereas taking footage of today’s protest,” said Panca as quoted by kompas.com.
Eyewitnesses to the attack said that the scholars were brutal in their treatment of the journalists.
A throng of scholars chased the protesting journalists down through the rear alleys of the Blok M searching district.
The students appeared undeterred by variety of warning shots fired by cops who got wind of the scene to interrupt up the gang.
In pictures taken by Banar on the kompas.com web site, many students were seen beating and kicking a number of the journalists who were being shielded by cops.
Banar himself suffered cuts and bruises to his face whereas fellow photographer Fransiskus Simbolon of Kontan weekly left the sene unharmed.
“After taking some footage, I took an opportunity and acquired some drinks. Suddenly from 2 directions, these students appeared and chased us down. I ran away and fell and that they started mobbing me. Thank God native residents and fellow journalists came and rescued me,” Banar said.
A poster on the Twitter social network website claiming to be one in all the SMA half dozen students said that he was pleased with what he had done.
In the Twitter feed the poster, whose on-line name is Gilang_Perdanaa, is reported to own said that he was happy concerning beating up the journalists.
“I feel relieved currently when beating up the journalists. i used to be therefore angry,” the poster said as quoted by kompas.com.
He went on to mention that individuals ought to be a lot of careful when attempting to show how powerful the neighborhood around SMA half dozen was.
“Mahakam neighborhood is hard, man, don’t try and disrupt the peace, even journalists may well be victims,” he said.
